Stone
intarsia
wall
This stone intarsia wall panel, with its striking technical complexity, is inspired by an unusual collection of clothes designed for Jackie K., also known as the “First Lady of the 20th Century”. The circular and optical motifs featured on the garments are used in combination with contrasting colours (black and white) or very warm shades. The image in the panel, extremely rich in details, represents 4 models showing the collection. The details reveal the care and precision of the inlay work: the differences in the models’ complexions, the colours of the eyes (even the pupils are in marble), and even their make-up. The dark-skinned model has black eye make-up and the blondes brown, while their lipstick matches their nail varnish. Nothing is left to chance. To match the wall cladding, we also created the Jackie K. stone intarsia floor with inlaid black and white band (Bianco Sivec and Nero Belgio, marbles, 80 cm wide). The furniture underlines the “Sixties” mood, with the table repeating the bubble pattern on the dark-skinned model’s dress. The table is 86 cm in diameter, with an original period stem base.
