Canyon Bench

Nat| f |Use

A raw block of Onice Nuvolato, resin-treated and net-reinforced with raw cut, is used to create this bench, which recalls the eroded strata of a Canyon. Every irregularity is intentional and unconcealed, in keeping with a policy of reusing all the offcuts from the marble-working process. This deep-seated commitment to waste reduction makes appropriate, attractive use of every fragment of scrap which would otherwise be simply thrown away. With this approach, the obvious resin treatment becomes a texture and the rough finishes of the slabs underlines the unevenness of the shape created, the perfect marriage of art and nature. The streak of spray paint – used to mark the purchased block as Budri – takes on a new identity in a fresh semantic code: the company name becomes an ironic gesture, a smudge of blue, an artistic sign that merges with the stone, used in its pure, natural state.
